Damkjær Sko is a shoe retailer with over 60 years of history and several shops across West Jutland. Damkjær Sko was looking for a partner to handle their digital marketing, aiming to attract more customers and boost turnover. At the same time, Damkjær Sko wanted a sparring partner to advise on optimising their online business and which channels to use. The challenge for Damkjær Sko was that they had never previously focused on online marketing, relying instead on organic traffic from search engines and brand awareness. Now, the whole of Denmark could have footwear delivered from Damkjær Sko.

Significant growth in visitor numbers on the current webshop

The goal from WeMarket for damkjaersko.dk was clear – much greater visibility on Google through organic traffic, Google Shopping, and Facebook advertising. We increased the number of monthly visitors, leading to explosive growth in both orders and newsletter sign-ups.

The right SEO strategy, with a clear website structure and targeted Google searches, boosted visitor numbers, while product optimisation and product feed optimisation drove growth on Google Shopping. By adding Facebook advertising to Damkjær Sko’s marketing mix, we generated more leads for the newsletter list and reached new customers with targeted ads.

This combined effort took Damkjær from 18,000 to 50,000 visitors on the current webshop.

Much greater focus on the customer database

As visitor numbers grew, a pop-up was introduced on the website to encourage newsletter sign-ups, which now accounts for a third of all new subscribers. This initiative, combined with an assertive newsletter campaign, generates monthly revenue without the need for advertising spend on Google or Facebook. The growth in visitors from newsletters can be seen below.

Damkjær Sko also operates the Rieker shoe shop in Aarhus and had the opportunity to become the online agent for Rieker in Denmark, running Rieker’s official webshop. This required a completely new marketing strategy, the creation of a customer database and increased visibility in search engines – all starting from zero. The development in visitor numbers is shown below.

Focus on profitability and ROAS

From the outset, we have maintained a strong focus on ROAS to ensure a healthy business on every channel where advertising spend is invested. This allows for further investment, as profitability is always at the heart of our client collaborations.

Looking abroad for further growth

Growth has enabled the client to invest in an 800 sqm external warehouse, allowing for larger orders from suppliers and improved purchasing agreements. There is now capacity to look abroad, with the next step targeting our neighbours to the north – Sweden.
