Do you want to dominate the search results on Amazon?

Are you finding that your products are not being shown to customers? Or do you want to ensure they are visible when you start selling on Amazon? SEO is a crucial factor for success on Amazon. At WeMarket, we help you understand what it takes and how to get it right from the very first step, as we are specialists in the field.

Why is Amazon SEO important?

It is vital to prioritise SEO on Amazon because it makes it easier for your products to be found and shown to potential customers searching for your type of product. By optimising the factors that influence SEO, you achieve a better ranking in the search results, which increases your visibility and, in all likelihood, your sales.

Amazon SEO does not work in exactly the same way as SEO on Google, as fewer factors influence your ranking. Since Amazon is a platform for buying products, there are significant differences in the factors you need to work on to actually achieve successful sales on Amazon.

However, Google and Amazon do have one thing in common: as soon as you optimise your content, your click-through rate (CTR) and conversion rate (CR) improve. Ultimately, this means you achieve more sales and a better ranking for your products.

There is a lot to work with when it comes to Amazon SEO. WeMarket is an Amazon agency with many years of experience – we know how to appease the algorithm and increase your sales.

Pleasing the A9 algorithm is the key to success

To succeed with selling on Amazon and Amazon SEO, it is important to keep in mind that Amazon as a platform is focused on its customers and their experience, as this drives higher revenue for Amazon. Therefore, Amazon rewards sellers who have the highest number of satisfied customers.

With this in mind, you need to optimise your product pages to such an extent that customers are attracted to buy from you. But your products must also meet customer expectations so that you are rewarded with positive reviews.

It is therefore crucial to structure your product data correctly, so the algorithm knows exactly what it is showing to customers.

You do this by optimising:

  • Product titles
  • Bullet points
  • Product descriptions
  • Product images
  • A variety of different and relevant keywords

The more optimised your products are, and the more sales they generate, the better your ranking will be, as this is one of the key factors in satisfying the algorithm.

How do you achieve a better ranking on Amazon?

You are probably familiar with Google SEO and the importance of ranking highly in Google’s search engine. The same principle applies on Amazon. While Google searches are primarily for information, Amazon is all about one thing… Sales, sales, and more sales! Most visitors on Amazon are ready to buy, and if you can achieve a high ranking with your products, sales are virtually guaranteed.

In this article about Amazon SEO, I will cover some of the most important factors you can influence to achieve a strong ranking on category pages.

Amazon SEO

Your products are everything

Amazon thrives on selling products, so the single most important factor for good placement on Amazon is whether your products can sell. You need to offer products that meet customers’ needs and desires, ideally with high quality and at competitive prices. If Amazon can see that your products are in demand and receive good reviews (Read: Amazon fake reviews are a no-go), they will make sure your products appear at the very top amongst other listings.

When creating your products in Amazon Seller Central, Amazon asks for a lot of information from you. Some of it is required, and some is optional. Give Amazon as much information as possible, so they can better understand your product and show it to those who may be interested.
This can help achieve a good ranking.

Get started with a keyword analysis for Amazon

To identify the most relevant keywords for your products on Amazon, it is necessary to carry out a keyword analysis. If you already have data from Google Ads or from your organic efforts, this can be used for Amazon SEO.

However, since search intent differs on Google and Amazon, your keyword list from Google cannot be used exclusively. It is also necessary to use data from your Amazon Ads and to work with an effective tool such as MerchantWords, which is one of the best tools when it comes to finding keywords for Amazon.

As part of our work with Amazon SEO, we naturally help you find the most precise and effective keywords for your products on Amazon, so you get off to a strong start – even if you do not yet have a lot of data to rely on.

Amazon SEO

Hunt for the right keywords

The first step towards a good ranking is keywords, but what are they and why are they so important? – Keywords are the words that best describe your product and the terms visitors use in the search field to find your product. You should therefore invest time and energy in finding the right ones.

An easy way to get started is to search for competitors who sell similar products to yours. Review their product pages and see which words they use in their texts. Then use these words in your own texts.
The above is a good and free way to find keywords, but…

If you want the best results, you need to undertake a more thorough keyword analysis. There are various analysis tools available that can show you how many searches a particular keyword receives in your product area.

We use the tool Junglescout, where you can see how many searches different keywords receive, as well as which keywords are related.
These analysis tools usually require a monthly subscription, but if you want to stay ahead of your competitors, it can be a worthwhile investment.

You are also very welcome to contact us and we can help you assess the potential for your products on Amazon.

Bullet points – what are they?

With 5 bullet points, you have the opportunity to describe your product and why customers should choose it. It is important to highlight the product’s features and how it can meet your customers’ needs.
And yes, your customers do read your bullet points, so make sure to set aside time to write persuasive copy.

This is where your keywords come back into play. When you conducted your keyword analysis, you hopefully found more keywords than you could fit in your title. Do not worry – that work is not wasted. You have included the most important keywords in your title and you should also use them in your bullet points, but you have probably found several other good keywords that describe your product. Again, select the best and use them in your bullet points.

Amazon’s algorithm will also ensure that the keywords included in your bullet points can drive traffic to your products. While they are not ranked as highly as those in your title, they are still important and absolutely necessary.

Sell your products with high-quality product images

With your keyword texts in place, you now need something visual to attract people to your products. Images have the power to capture our attention, so having high-quality product photos on your product page can be decisive.

Good product images also give customers a better sense of the product they are about to purchase, making them more confident in their choice. Have photos taken of your product from multiple angles, so customers can really see what it looks like. It would be frustrating to be overlooked due to poor images.

You can have up to 7 images per product, and it is definitely worth taking advantage of this. My colleague has written an interesting post on this topic, which you can read here: (Concrete tips for your Amazon product images)

You should also make sure your images are taken with good camera equipment, and if you do not have the opportunity to do this yourself, you should hire someone who can.

Amazon SEO

Kickstart your ranking with Amazon Ads

If you want to work with Amazon SEO, you can kickstart your ranking on the platform by using Amazon Ads. On Amazon, paid traffic and performance play a significant role in organic performance, as there is no distinction between paid and organic results.

Simply put, if you have a higher number of conversions through your ads and therefore paid traffic, this will also be reflected in the organic rankings your products achieve on the platform. With Amazon Ads, you can prove to the rigorous algorithm that users genuinely want to buy your products, which – as mentioned earlier – is essential for success on Amazon.

We see excellent results with this approach and, combined with other SEO activities, it gives you a strong foundation for getting started with selling on Amazon.

Of course, we are happy to help you with this. We will always assess in advance whether this will have a positive effect for you, or if other tools or methods should be used to help you get found in the organic search results.
